Fix guides / Page language not set / Shopify

Set the page language in Shopify

Check your store's default language and your theme's layout file.

Checked against Shopify's help docs on 2026-10-09. Menu names can change; the source links below have the latest steps.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Languages and confirm the default language is right.
  2. Shopify themes normally output it automatically with <html lang="{{ request.locale.iso_code }}"> in layout/theme.liquid.
  3. If the scan still reports a missing language, open Online Store > Themes, click ... > Edit code, open layout/theme.liquid, and make sure the <html> tag includes that lang attribute.
  4. Check any extra layout files too (for example layout/password.liquid).

Check it: publish your change, then run a new scan from your dashboard. The issue should drop off the list.
