Add alt text to images in Shopify

Product images

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Products and open a product.
2. Click an image in the Media area to open its preview.
3. Add a short description in the alt text field and save. Shopify recommends 125 characters or fewer.

Banner, slideshow, and section images

1. Go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize.
2. Select the section with the image, click Edit on the image, enter the alt text, and save.

Images you insert into product descriptions or blog posts get alt text in the rich text editor: click the image and edit its alt text there. Shopify's media editor can also suggest AI-written alt text; read each one before accepting it.

Check it: publish your change, then run a new scan from your dashboard. The issue should drop off the list.
